September 11 – 250 Speedway

Preparing for the second leg of the $ 3000 to win UEMS race at Raceway 7 it was learned early Thursday that the race was to be posponed until a later date due to illness with the track promoter. A regular race was to take place on Friday and the Dunn -Olivieri Race team had made plans to make the tow to Conneaut, OH, however that race was also cancelled and the team made a 360 degree turn in their plans and decided to head to 250 Speedway in Caditz, OH for a $1000 to win TSMA sanctioned race.

A strong field of 36 car wre signed into the pits with four heat races to determine the 20 car starting field for the evenings 30 lap feature. Starting fifth in the first heat race, Dunn was able to gain the lead by lap four and went on to easy eight lap heat race victory. The win would give Dunn the pole position for the feature,however at the start he would lose two falling to third by the end of the first lap. Dunn would ride in the third spot through three early cautions periods thtough lap five. At that point a long green flag run of twenty laps took place with Russ dropping to sixth when a caution came out on lap 25. The final cation flew on lap 27 with Dunn moving back into the top five. The final three lap were a do fight fight for positions, but Dunn stayed in 5th as the checkers flew.

Dunn-Olivieri Racing will be traveling to Imperial, PA to take part in the UEMS $1000 to win race during the Pittsburgher weekend September 18-19 at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway (PPMS) for their second visit of the years to Dirts Monster Half Mile.
