Conneaut, OH….Coming of their first victory of the the year the Dunn-Olivieri Racing team had plans to race September 25th at Raceway 7 for a $1500 to win race and to the $1000 to win UEMS race at Mc Kean County. Raceway 7 has been the favorite track of Russ Dunn this year and over the last five races Dunn has one win, two seconds and two thirds.

Twenty four car were signed into the pits with three 8 lap heats scheduled to set the field for the feature. Start on the outside pole in the third heat race Dunn lead all 8 laps in route to the heat race win. The heat race win was Russ’s tenth of the year. The redraw was an invert 9 meaning Dunn would start 7th for the 20 lap feature. The field would be slowed seven times for cautions with the first on the start of the race and on laps 4, 7 10.At the half way point Dunn had advances four spots to 3rd. Passing is tough at Raceway 7 and the lack of green flag racing would hurt Dunn in his quest to catch the top two cars as the yellow flag continued to fly on laps 11, 13, 16. Over the final four laps closed on the leaders but had to settle for 3rd as the checker flag waved,

Saturdays plan to travel to McKean County were washed out as rains forced the cancellation of the race scheduled for September 26. The make up date was rescheduled for Sunday September 27th, however previous plans will prevent the Dunn-Olivieri Race Team from attending Sunday’s race.

This weeks racing plans will have have the team returning October 2 to Raceway 7 and a $2000 to win UEMS show at Mercr Raceway Park on October 3rd.

First win of 2009 @ Raceway 7

Conneaut, OH …. Russ Dunn and the Dunn-Olivieri race team have been knocing on the door all season long with consistent top five runs all season long, Friday the door was knocked down as the # 47 and Dunn found victory lane for the first time in 2009. The night was a special one for Dunn as he led from start to finish in the 8 laps heat race and all 20 laps in the feature.

The team was to have traveled to PPMS to take part in the UEMS race, but a decision was made by the team mid week to travel to Raceway 7 on Friday and Sharon on Speedway on Saturday . Finishing first in the fifist heat race, Dunn was able to pick the invert for the E-Mod feature and the result was an invert two meaning Dunn would start on the outside pole for the feature . Dunn would grap the lead at the drop of the green and maintain it when a caution came on lap five. Dunn maintained his lead through as two quick cautions on laps eleven an thirteen. The resarts were Dunn’s strong point all evening and on the the final one on lap sixteen the rest of the field knew he was the car to beat as he pulled alway the remaining four laps to earn his first victory of the year as the checked flag flew.

A Roller Coaster Night @ Sharon Speedway

Harford, OH…..Looking to carry momentun from Friday race the team travel to Sharon Speedway, but Satuday’s visit was a roller coaster night for Dunn and the team. Finishing second in the first of two heat races , the fans drew an ivert 12 meaning Dunn would have to start 10th in the 15 lap feature. The coaster ride would begin before the end of lap one as the leaders spun, slowing to miss the wreck the car behind Dunn would make contact with the left rear wheel causing it to go flat. Headed to the pits the team was able to change the tire and keep him on the lead lap in 18th. Running the high side of the race track Dunn was able to slowly work his way into the top ten as cautions would slow the field on lap 6,7, 8. The roller coater ride would would hit a valley once again as running fifth slowing once again to miss a spinning car Dunn was tagged on the left rear causing him to spin out. Falling back to 12th, on lap 11. Dunn was able to move forward five spots over the remaining four laps to finish a respectable but a disappointing 7th as the checkers flew.
