June 26 and 27
Sunday, July 12th, 2009Conneaut. OH…..Making their first visit in the # 47 Dunn-Olivieri to Raceway 7 ( three visits in the 222) a light but top quality field of seventeen cars were signed into the pits due to a chance of rain in the area. Of the three previous visits to the track this season Dunn was able to capture two heat race wins in the 222 entry. Friday would be no exception as Dunn captured yet another heat race win his third at Raceway 7 this year.
As dominate as Dunn has been in the heat the luck of the draw would give an invert 12 redraw. At the drop of the flag the race was slowed by two early cautions and had Dunn moving up two spots to 10th. The race would go caution free over the next 18 lap with Russ advancing to 4th as the checkers flew.
Hartford, Oh…. It was down to Sharon Speedway to complete the weekend doubleheader. Just like in the movie Ground Hog Day it was Dunn once again winning the heat race ( his seventh this year) and as in the previous night, an invert 12 was pulled for the 15 lap feature. Twenty five cars would start the feature with Dunn starting 10th. The first eight laps saw (5) cautions, and twice the red flag came out. If starting 10th would make it more difficult the lap clicked of one by one. On lap four Dunn, missed by inches of being involved in a huge wreck on the back stretch. In his efforts to miss the wreck as he slowed the track scorers dropped him back two spots to seventh when he should have been scored in 5th. The race would go green over the final seven laps and Dunn would by his account finished a disappointing 5th.
