by Dave Olivieri

Indiana, PA – Sunday night provided the E-Mods with another racing series. The inaugural event for the newly formed (UFO) Unified Force Race Championship sponsored by Comcast was held at the Challenger Raceway as part of the season opening PA Short Track Championship. Fourteen race teams from New York, Pennsylvania and West Virginia were entered in the first event of 2008.

The first of two heat races has Dunn, starting second in the in the second eight lap heat race. A third place finish enabled Dunn to qualify for the feature redraw. One lucky fan was picked to draw the positions for the 20 lap feature. Luck was not on Dunn’s side as the fan drew the twelfth starting position in small but rather stout field of some of the areas best E-Mod drivers.

The task of getting to the front was going to be a tough one for Dunn, as the initial stat of the race saw Russ move up six positions on the start of the race. The only caution of the event flew before the lap counted , and a complete restart ensued. As luck would have it the next twenty laps went green and coming from the back to catch the leader and a strong running pack of Dave Hess, Randy Hall, Louie Krushansky Dennis Perigo all who started in front of Dunn a fifth place finish was the final out come.

The next event for the E-Mods in the (UFO) Series is Sunday May 18 at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. The next event for Dunn-Olivieri Racing Saturday May 3 at Sharon Speedway in Hartford , OH.
